A unitary European patent and a unified European patent litigation system – still no political agreement

The latest news is that the so-called Warsaw Convention was not signed on 22 December.  According to the press release from the Polish Presidency in late December, agreement could not be reached on the location of the Central Division of the proposed court.  The resulting delay in finalizing the "EU patent package” (unitary patent, language regime and unified patent court) may give the European Member States' national legislatures time to address the many concerns of the patent community before the European Parliament’s February plenary session.
