Ryan is a partner in Taylor Wessing’s International Private Client team.  Currently based in Singapore he is playing a leading role in the development of the firm’s international private client business in Singapore and South East Asia.

He specialises in offshore and international tax planning, including wealth structuring using trusts, family limited partnerships and other structures.

Ryan acts for a wide range of private clients, including entrepreneurs, business owners, fund managers, property developers and high profile international families.  He also acts for leading offshore trust companies and private banks.  Ryan advises on planning and structures in a variety of financial centres, including Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Jersey, Liechtenstein, Mauritius and Switzerland.

He advises high net worth individuals and families on critical issues including governance, succession, and family constitutions and charters, as well as asset protection, philanthropy and charity issues.  He is also a recognised expert in cross-border tax planning, wealth structuring for international families as well as many of the issues that impact private individuals and families arising out of corporate and commercial transactions.

Ryan studied law at Cambridge University, graduating in 1998.  He trained at Withers and qualified as a solicitor in 2001.  He subsequently practised in the private client group at Clifford Chance, joining Taylor Wessing in 2004.  He became a partner at Taylor Wessing in London in 2010.

He is a frequent contributor to several leading private client and tax journals. In January 2011, Ryan was appointed General Editor of The Journal of International Tax, Trust and Corporate Planning (published by Jordans), succeeding David Brownbill QC.

He is frequently asked to give expert comment by the news media, particularly on issues of international taxation and private wealth.

He is a member of the Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats (AIJA), and regularly speaks at AIJA private client and tax conferences.

Ryan was ranked in the "Top 35 under 35" survey produced by Private Client Practitioner in 2009 and 2010, which noted his "expertise in cross-border private client tax”.
