As a member of the Insolvency and Corporate Recovery Department, Roman Schmiedeknecht focuses on national and international insolvency law, but also advises in corporate law related to the withdrawal and maintenance of capital. Within these areas, he specialises in advice and litigation for insolvency administrations, banks and companies. Furthermore, he focuses on the impact of insolvencies on monetary and credit transactions.

Roman Schmiedeknecht was born 1974 in Kempen. Having served a biennial bank-apprenticeship in Düsseldorf, he studied law at the University of Münster. He passed his first legal state exam in 2001, subsequently he worked as scientific assistant at the Institute of International Commercial Law in Münster until 2005. Meanwhile he completed his doctorate on a European ordinance concerning cross-border insolvency law and obtained a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in Mergers & Acquisitions from the University of Münster. After having passed the second legal state exam in Hamburg 2006, he was admitted to the bar und joined the Düsseldorf office in the same year.

Roman Schmiedeknecht published an article about liability of insolvency administrators in "Berliner Schriftenreihe zum Steuer- und Wirtschaftsrecht".
