Robert Wethmar is a partner in our firm and a member of our Corporate Practice Department. His focus is advising clients on transactions in the areas of mergers & acquisitions, private equity and venture capital. His other main areas of expertise are joint ventures as well as corporate advice to companies during restructuring efforts, for example, or in connection with company succession issues. His client base consists of national and international companies which are active in a variety of industries such as fashion, aerospace, information technology, food and consumer goods as well as medical and biotechnology. Being of Dutch origin and also as an Attorney-at-Law in New York Robert advises many Dutch and American clients.
Robert Wethmar studied in Hamburg and New York (NYU) and completed his legal training (Referendariat) in Berlin. He was admitted to the Hamburg Bar in 1992 and to the New York Bar in 1993 and has been with Taylor Wessing since 1994, where he became Partner in 1997.
Robert Wethmar is a member of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association and the German American as well as the German Dutch Lawyers Association.
Robert is a native German speaker but is also fluent in Dutch, English and French.
