Reinhard Gaertner has specialized in the advice and counselling of companies of the media and IT branches. He advises and counsels these companies on all material legal issues relating to the operative business, including, in particular, copyright, intellectual property and distribution right. Moreover he assists enterprises of the media branch with legal advice on the right of expression (counter-statements, cease and desist, withdrawals and pecuniary damages).
Reinhard Gaertner studied law in Mainz where he passed his state exams in the years 1980 and 1983. He is admitted to the bar since 1983. In 1984 he was awarded the doctor of law in Mainz with a thesis on antitrust law issues.
Reinhard Gaertner is a member of the legal committee of the Verband Deutscher Zeitschriftenverleger (VDZ), the association of German publishers of periodicals, as well as of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Verlagsjustitiare, the study group of publishers' in-house lawyers. He regularly delivers speeches at seminars and conferences on media law issues and wrote several articles on this topic in law journals.
