Head of Reconstruction & Corporate Recovery (UK)
Patrick is a partner in and head of the Restructuring and Corporate Recovery group of Taylor Wessing. He specialises in corporate and debt restructuring, corporate and business turnaround and rescue and corporate insolvency. He has over 25 years' experience in the industry and his main clients are banks, financial institutions, private equity houses and Insolvency Practitioners.
Patrick's work includes the creation and restructuring of debt instruments, acting for banks creditors and shareholders on all aspects of distressed debt from restructuring to recovery in both non contentious and contentious situations restructuring corporate entities, formal insolvencies – administration, administrative receivership, receivership, liquidation and company voluntary arrangements, schemes of arrangement, advising on directors duties and corporate governance, misfeasance and the prosecution of claims against directors and other contentious insolvency matters. He has also acted for the Dti in insider dealing investigations and director disqualification proceedings.
Recent assignments include:
- the restructuring and rescue of Deutsche Woolworths on behalf of its UK Private Equity owner involving some 10,000 employees spread over 110 retail outlets;
- acting for management in the restructuring of a group of companies within the Lehman Brothers UK group of companies with a view to realizing value through a management buy out; and
- acting for Senior Lenders in the restructuring of debt owed by a group of borrowers used in the acquisition of a number of properties used for residential nursing homes.
Patrick has an MA in Jurisprudence from Oxford University and is a member of R3, the Insolvency Practitioners Association, the Insolvency Lawyers Association and INSOL. He speaks good French.
