Nicolai Wiegand specialises in the areas IT/e-commerce and data protection. His work covers all aspects of IT, including the design of software contracts and technology licences, outsourcing projects and in-depth support for technology and IP transactions. He also advises on all problems that may arise from e-commerce and data security/data protection. Regarding the latter, especially in connection with market research and customer retention measures.
The clients he works with include national and international IT-companies, content providers, portal operators, and advertising agencies. Last, but not least he also provides strategic advice on the registration of trade mark rights, handles conflicts arising from trademark infringements in China and deals with technology transfer to China.
Nicolai Wiegand studied law in Munich. He then acquired a Master of Law at the New York University School of Law. At the same time, he worked there a.o. as a scientific associate in the copyright department of the university. Upon his return he was awarded his PhD by Prof. Dr. Theo Bodewig in copy right law and worked as a PhD scholar at the Max-Planck-Institute for foreign and international patent, copyright and unfair competition law.
Nicolai Wiegand regularly publishes professional articles on software law, is co-author of the reference book for information technology lawyers, and he comments in LexisNexis‘ online commentary on a.o. unfair competition regulations for comparing advertsing. In addition, Nicolai Wiegand is a lecturer at the training course information technology for future specialist lawyers. He is a member of the Gesellschaft für Recht und Informatik (DGRI, German Society for Law and Informatics).
