As chair of the employment law practice in the Berlin office Matthias has a major focus on employment-related restructuring advice, including works council matters and collective bargaining agreements, as well as individual employment law (e.g. drafting of employment contracts and service agreements). He advises on the transfer of businesses and business restructurings (especially staff reductions), including negotiations with the works council on compromises of interests/social plans/conciliation board proceedings and outsourcing measures. He also has broad experience in litigation and due diligence-exercises.
After he graduated from the University of Munich in 1991 and having obtained the degree of "Doktor" in 1993, Matthias passed his Second State Examination in Munich in 1994. After spending three months at a New York Law Firm he joined Taylor Wessing on January 1st 1995. Matthias Kast has been a partner at Taylor Wessing since 1998.
Matthias Kast regularly publishes articles in professional journals. He is an active member of the Working Group of Specialist Lawyers in Employment Law ("Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Fachanwälte für Arbeitsrecht im Deutschen Anwaltsverein") and of the European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA). He was admitted as specialist lawyer in Employment Law in 1998.
