Joachim Glatter advises German and international enterprises on the legal aspects of their business transactions in the People's Republic of China, in particular on the formation of companies involving foreign investment (joint venture companies, wholly owned subsidiaries), corporate restructuring, technology transfer, foreign exchange and labour law as well as arbitration proceedings. He is a nominated arbitrator of the Panel of Arbitrators of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission. His clients include major multi-nationals as well as medium-sized companies.
Joachim Glatter studied law in Münster, Lausanne and Göttingen. In 1986/1987 he studied the Chinese language at the University of Nanjing/People's Republic of China as a scholarship holder of the German Academic Exchange Service. His doctor's thesis dealt with a topic of Chinese commercial and investment law. Joachim Glatter began his career at a leading international law firm, where he headed the Beijing and Shanghai offices between 1990 and 1996 and from 2000 to 2001. In 2002 he joined the Taylor Wessing Frankfurt office as a partner.
Joachim Glatter has authored numerous publications and is a regular speaker about issues of Chinese commercial law. He is the co-editor of the China News Report which is published in Bundesanzeiger Verlag.
