Jan specialises in technology related transactions and the day-to-day legal advice to enterprises from the information technology, telecommunications and media industry. Throughout his career, his practice has included the drafting of agreements and related documentation on complex IT and outsourcing projects, but also software, technology and content licensing as distribution agreements. Jan's clients include international and domestic enterprises from the IT, telecommunications and interactive games industries. He also advises start-ups, medium and larger enterprises on e-commerce law and privacy issues. Jan was recognized as a "declared e-commerce specialist" by Germany's leading legal magazine "Juve" in its 2007/2008 yearbook.
Following his studies at the University of Cologne, Jan completed both German legal state exams in 1992 in Cologne and 1996 in Düsseldorf. He was admitted to the bar in 1996 and joined Taylor Wessing in 2004.
Jan's list of publications include the chapter on "Mobile Telephony Agreements" in the Graf von Westphalen/Grothe/Pohle compendium on Agreements on Telephony Services (Recht & Wirtschaft 2001). He is a member of the editorial board of the English legal journal “Copyright World”. Jan is guest lecturer at the Deutsche AnwaltAkademie GmbH on the course “Fachanwalt IT” as well as a visiting lecturer on e-commerce, intellectual property law and alternative dispute resolution at the University of Düsseldorf and the University of Oldenburg. He is an active member of the Computer Law Association and the German Federal Association of the Digital Economy (BVDW).
