Head of IT, Telecoms & Competition (UK)

Glyn Morgan is a partner and head of the IT & Telecoms group at Taylor Wessing.  He has over 20 years experience as an IT and commercial lawyer, which includes advising in relation to:

  • Contracts for IT and online related projects and services, acting for both suppliers and customers.  These include contracts in a very wide variety of fields, such as software licensing and use (including "software as service" models), software and systems development, hardware supply and support, online business models, leasing and rental of technology, distribution, agency and marketing arrangements, partnering agreements, pure intellectual property rights licences and many other types of contract.
  • Outsourcing contracts, particularly those with an IT or other technology angle.
  • Regulatory issues, such as those arising under the Data Protection Act 1998, Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003, Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 and other similar legislation and regulations applying to the fields of technology, the internet and data protection and privacy.
  • Risk management in relation to technology companies, including advising a leading underwriter of professional indemnity insurance for technology companies on risk management by and in relation to its insured clients.
  • Inception, protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights.
  • Dispute resolution in relation to technology-related project and service contracts and other technology-related issues (such as misuse of intellectual property rights).

Glyn is listed in the Legal 500 and Chambers as a leading practitioner in the field of IT and in "Legal Experts" in the field of IT.  Chambers 2013 says he "is praised for his 'strong commitment'" whilst Legal 500 2012 says he "stands out for his experience in commercial IT matters and his 'attention to the subject matter; he really gets under the skin of a deal'."
