Dr. Frauke Henning-Bodewig is Head of Unit at the Max-Planck-Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law in Munich, Germany. She also teaches competition law at the Friedrich Alexander University, Erlangen and is of counsel at Taylor Wessing, Munich. She has spent extensive time undertaking legal research at US Law Schools (Stanford University; George Washington University; Santa Clara University). She is considered one of the leading European experts in the field of unfair competition law.

Dr. Frauke Henning-Bodewig received a doctor's degree in law from the University of Munich. She has written numerous books and articles (publications are included in: The Antitrust Law Journal; The Trademark Reporter; The International Review of Industrial Property and Copyright Law; Gewerblicher Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht; Gewerblicher Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht, Internationaler Teil; Archiv für Presserecht; Der Betriebsberater; Der Markenartikel, UFITA, Wettbewerb in Recht und Praxis; Zeitschrift für Urheber- und Medienrecht. They cover the whole range of intellectual property law issues, in recent times notably trademark law, unfair competition law and media law. Her books include: Die wettbewerbliche Haftung von Werbeagenturen und Massenmedien nach deutschem und amerikanischem Recht; Marke und Verbraucher - Funktionen der Marke in der Marktwirtschaft (two volumes, together with A. Kur) und Recht der Werbung in Europa: Belgien, Nomos Verlag 1994 and Recht der Werbung in Deutschland (together with G. Schricker), Nomos Verlag 2004. Recent publications include an extensive commentary on the new German unfair competition law which appeared in May 2004 (Beck-Verlag), and a treatise “Unfair competition Law - European Union and Member States” which will appear in October 2005.

Dr. Henning-Bodewig has been an advisor to the World Intellectual Property Organisation on a Model Law for Unfair Competition and to the German Government on the Reform of Unfair Competition Law. She is member of the "LIGUE contre le concurrence dèloyale" (where she serves on the Scientific Committee and was key note speaker in 2004), AIPPI, ALAI. She is also on the advisory board of the "Bijblaad".
