Claire is a partner in the Restructuring & Corporate Recovery group specialising in non-contentious corporate insolvency and restructuring.  She is a dual qualified barrister and solicitor and has her full rights of audience as a solicitor advocate. 

Claire represents a range of stakeholders in insolvency and restructuring scenarios including UK clearing banks, asset based lenders, international banks, hedge funds and private equity investors, boards of UK and international companies, purchasers of distressed businesses through formal insolvency processes and insolvency practitioners in their capacities as office holders.  Claire regularly speaks at client and internal seminars and has written a number of articles for industry focussed publications. 

Recent work includes:

  • advising the directors of the Targetfollow group of companies following their appointment by the Administrators of the parent companies, Targetfollow Property Holdings Limited and Targetfollow Property Investment and Development Limited, on a range of issues concerning solvency, the restructuring of certain lease obligations, and realising the group property assets. Lloyds Banking Group the secured creditor were owed in the region of £800 million;
  • advising a Canadian listed company in relation to its purchase of two businesses in England via a pre-pack administration and a distressed purchase.  The purchase of the businesses enabled the client to broaden its portfolio in the IP communications systems industry and provide more comprehensive products throughout Europe whilst saving the existing employees jobs;
  • advising a German registered company in relation to its acquisition of companies in Europe as part of a restructuring of a manufacturing group.  The client was a wholly owned subsidiary of a large private investment firm;
  • advising upon the restructuring of the English group of companies wholly owned by a Delaware, US registered company, including advising and negotiating the purchase of certain assets via a pre-pack administration to a new entity; and
  • advising the Royal Bank of Scotland in relation to a number of security issues and restructuring options on significant value property related lends.
