Bart is partner in the Company, Civil and Commercial Law Litigation practice at Taylor Wessing Brussels, specializing also in insolvency and reconstruction.

Bart advises clients on dispute resolution, liability issues, insolvency and reconstruction and securities.

Bart studied law in Namur and Ghent.  He obtained a certificate in health economics at the University of Antwerp.  He also obtained a certificate awarding a four-year cycle of courses on the legal system of the United States and delivered by the University of Georgia and the Brussels Bar.

Bart started his career in law in 1986, worked with Dal & Veldekens and then moved to Laga where he was a partner for 8 years prior to joining Taylor Wessing in 2009 as head of the company, civil and commercial law litigation department as well as the insolvency and reconstruction group.

He is a well-known bankruptcy practitioner admitted at the Brussels Court of Commerce.  He is also a guest professor at the Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel (HUB), teaching civil law, company and commercial law.  In addition, he is an assistant in legal methodology at the University of Ghent.  Bart is a certified mediator for commercial dispute resolution and Director of the Brussels Business Mediation Centre (BBMC).

Bart is a member of the Brussels Bar and a member of the Council of the Brussels Bar.

He is an author of various books and publishes articles in legal reviews.  He is a member of the editorial board of the legal review DAOR (Droit des Affaires-OndernemingsRecht) and of the editorial board of the collection "Bedrijfsrecht". He is member of various business organizations and of the International Bar Association (IBA).

He speaks Dutch, French and English and is fluent in German.
