Axel von Walter practices in copyright, IT and media law, advising national and international clients with a special focus on electronic media including all issues of e- and m-commerce, electronic entertainment and the protection of young persons. He also specialises in competition law, national and international data protection as well as media- and technology-related transactions. Axel von Walter represents clients in court and out-of-court disputes and advises on contracts and transactions.
Axel von Walter studied law at the University of Munich and passed the 1st legal state exam in 2001 (J.D. equivalent) and the 2nd legal state exam in 2004 (Bar Exam equivalent). He was admitted to the German bar in 2004. Before joining the Munich office of Taylor Wessing in 2006, Axel worked for a recognised association against unfair competition (2001–2004) and an international law firm (2004-2006), including at their London office. He was awarded his doctor’s degree in 2007. His dissertation on an unfair competition topic, supervised by Prof. Dr. Helmut Köhler, was awarded the faculty prize by the University of Munich.
Axel von Walter is an adjunct lecturer at a university of applied sciences. He regularly publishes in his areas of specialisation and has co-authored the publications “Rechtspraxis im Direktmarketing“ (Legal practice in direct marketing - Gabler Verlag 2005) and “Praxis des Wettbewerbsrechts” (Competition law in practice – LexisNexis Verlag 2009). He is a member of GRUR, the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property.
