Axel is specialized in transactions and co-operations within the technology and telecommunications sector. His extensive experience includes software licensing, all kind of commercial agreements, e-commerce, m-commerce, games and gambling law and regulatory matters. He represents both, national and international clients ranging from start-ups to large public companies. A particular focus of his practice is counseling in matters with international dimensions and advising expanding foreign companies in Germany.
Axel studied Law at the Universities of Heidelberg, Lausanne (Switzerland), Munich and the London School of Economics (L.S.E.). He was legal trainee in Capetown (South Africa) and wrote a doctorate thesis on European Law. Axel was admitted to the German Bar in 1997. He joined Taylor Wessing in 1999 and became a partner in 2002.
Axel is a lecturer for the Masters Programme for "Information Technology Law" at the Heinrich-Heine-University in Duesseldorf. He is also tutor for the solicitor training course „Specialist Solicitor for Information Technology Law“ at Wolters Kluwer and at the Deutsche Anwaltsinstitut (DAI). Axel regularly writes articles and gives talks in German and English concerning recent developments in the technology sector.
As IT lawyer Axel is distinguished in the leading German Lawyer's Guide "JUVE". Furthermore, he is recognized in the Rankings "Who´s Who Legal" as international leading lawyer for Internet & e-Commerce and "Best Lawyers" as expert for Information Technology law.
