Kai is a Certified Specialist Lawyer in Information Technology Law and advises major national and international companies in all areas of IT-Law including the various licensing models, maintenance and services agreements, OEM, R&D, e-commerce and multimedia law,
e-payment processes, open source, telecommunication law as well as data protection law and other regulatory requirements. He has supported a substantial amount of national and international restructuring and outsourcing projects, also in business areas underlying particular restrictions such as the banking and insurance sector, as well as numerous M&A transactions and IPOs.
Kai studied at the universities of Bonn and Lausanne/Switzerland. After having worked as an assistant professor at the University of Trier and as attorney with international law firms in Canada, the USA and Germany he became partner of Taylor Wessing in July 2003.
He is the author of various publications mainly in the areas of competition law, code of conduct and in particular all areas of information technology and multimedia. He regularly gives lectures at educational trainings, seminars, international congresses as well as at the University of Dresden and the Frankfurt School of Business and Finance. He is an active member of the German Society of Law and Information (DGRI) and the Association for Intellectual Property and Copyright Law (GRUR) as well as co-head of the Frankfurt „IT-Legal Round Tables“. He is listed in the iam 250 „The World‘s Leading Patent & Technology Licensing Lawyers 2010“ and winner of the „ILO Client Choice Award 2011“ for IT-Law in Germany.
He is chairman / member of the board of directors of different technology companies.
As a native German speaker, Kai is fluent in English and has a good command of French.
