Insurance Day@Taylor Wessing
For the second year running, Taylor Wessing offers you a high-quality, professional forum to share opinions on and experiences with current insurance and reinsurance issues.
Our one day seminar of presentations and discussions will focus on non-life business this year: We will address the special aspects of major claims from the legal and technical perspective, discussing your practical experiences and devising possible solutions to frequently arising issues.
The next part of the seminar is dedicated to recent developments in D&O insurance, especially the effects of the law governing reasonable management
compensations ("VorstAG") and the latest practice of the supreme courts.
Together with a speaker from the industry, we will present the challenges faced by insurers in connection with international insurance programmes: Insurers seeking to offer one-stop insurance solutions to global policyholders are walking the tightrope between regulatory requirements on one side and their customers’ needs on the other.
After the lunch break, we will provide you with an update on current regulatory developments in the UK, France and Germany: In all three jurisdictions the financial crisis has tightened the compliance requirements for insurance companies, the preparations for Solvency II are underway, and the ECJ ruling on the taxability of portfolio transfers is being discussed.
New developments affecting schemes of arrangement will be addressed next. Following up on last year’s presentation, a specific run-off case study will round off this part of the seminar.
Asbestos exposure in the UK, which remains a topical issue, as well as its coverage and settlement will be addressed by another speaker from the industry.
Current issues in reinsurance are another focus of our seminar: Based on recent cases in court and practice, the latest developments affecting reinsurance contracts will be addressed from the English and German law perspectives and discussed.
We look forward to an informative and interesting day with many inspiring discussions. The topics will be presented by a number of renowned insurance industry specialists and by partners from across our various European offices.
