Ralf Stefan Werz specialises in tax structures and their enforcement, as well as in the tax issues involved in national and international succession to property cases, especially corporate succession. He advises family-owned businesses and private clients in finding their optimum investment and asset structures under all aspects of tax, corporate, succession and foundation law. Ralf also represents his clients in court disputes. His fields of expertise include anticipated succession (e.g. transfer agreements), testamentary dispositions and the administration of estates (e.g. estate settlement, assertion of rights to compulsory portions of an estate, and the execution of wills). His clients include renowned family-run businesses (especially from the real estate and logistics industry), affluent private individuals, family offices and foundations. In 2009 he received the Gold Pyramid award for foundation advisors from the Handelsblatt/Elite editors.
Ralf studied law, political science and philosophy in Tuebingen and Munich. After passing the 1st (1995) and 2nd (1998) legal state exams in Munich, he worked for a large accountancy firm for six years. He earned his PhD in 2002 and a tax advisor degree in 2004 while working at the same time, and joined a multidisciplinary law firm specialising in private clients, followed by a larger national law firm. Ralf became a partner at Taylor Wessing in October 2011.
Besides his work as a lawyer and tax advisor, Ralf often acts as author and speaker on topics in his field of expertise. He initiated the Munich forum for family businesses, held for the first time in 2010. Since 2009 he is a member of the advisory council of a major non-profit foundation.
