Olaf Gillert is a member of the Practice Area Trade Marks and Designs. His legal practice covers all aspects of non-technical IP-Rights. A special focus of his practice is "legal trademark management", in particular with international implications. "Legal trademark management" encompasses amongst other things the following services: strategic advice, trademark and IP-audits, administration of large trademark portfolios, litigation, licensing. Closely related to the trademark related services is Olaf`s practice in the design right and unfair competition area. Olaf advises various companies in the lifestyle, consumer goods and automobile industry.
He studied at the universities of Bochum and Geneva, Switzerland. After his graduation as a Master of Law (LL.M.) from the University of Houston, Olaf worked for an additional 18 months with a law firm in Houston. Olaf has been admitted to the German Bar since 1998. Prior to joining Taylor Wessing as a partner he worked for a law firm of Attorneys at law and Patent Attorneys.
Olaf is an adjunct professor of the Private University of Witten / Herdecke and a regular speaker on various issues related to intellectual property rights.
Olaf is the co-author of the practitioner´s guide "Produkt- und Konzeptpiraterie" (product and concept piracy). He regularly publishes in German and international legal publications about topics related to intellectual property rights.
He is a member of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights (GRUR), the Licensing Executive Society (LES) and the International Trademark Association (INTA). He is the co-chair of the INTA Adjunct Professors Task Force and the co-chair of the INTA Adjunct Professor Special Interest Group.
