Michael Sommer advises companies, entrepreneurs, foundations and private wealth. His practice area comprises corporate transactions as well as legal services in relation to corporate succession, trusts and foundations. Corporate restructuring (mergers, spin-offs, change of legal entity) is another main practice area, including also the related tax aspects. His long-standing experience in corporate transactions concentrates on national M&A transactions. In matters of corporate succession, Michael Sommer specialises in anticipated estate planning as well as setting up and supporting family foundations and non-profit trusts and foundations. He represents and litigates for his clients in judicial corporate and estate disputes.
After law studies in Munich Michael Sommer worked for an auditing company for two years before he was admitted to practice as a lawyer in Munich in 1975 and passed his tax advisor’s exam in 1979.
Michael has authored numerous publications in corporate and tax law, including as co-author of “Formularbuch Umwandlungen” (corporate transformation guide), author of "Die Gesellschaftsverträge der GmbH & Co. KG" (articles of association of GmbH & Co. KG), 4th ed. 2011 and of "Die Stiftung” (foundations), 2004 (reprinted in 2011), as well as co-author and co-editor of the “Unternehmensnachfolge” (corporate succession) guide, 2nd ed. 2010.
