Michael Schmidt joined Taylor Wessing in Frankfurt in September 2003 as a partner after having previously been a partner in two international law firms. Michael Schmidt advises in the field of tax law and corporate law/civil law. Michael Schmidt's main areas of practice include domestic and cross border Mergers & Acquisitions, reorganisation of companies and groups as well as estate planning. These areas are characterised by a close interconnection between tax law and corporate/civil law including in particular international tax law. Michael Schmidt advises German and foreign companies and entrepreneurs.
Michael received his education at the University of Mainz, where he passed the first state examination in law in 1991. He was awarded his Doctorate degree for a dissertation on corporate law from the University of Mainz in 1995. In 1995 he passed the second state examination in law and was subsequently admitted to the bar. In 1999 he passed his tax advisor's examination and was subsequently admitted as tax advisor. Additionally he was admitted as a certified tax lawyer (Fachanwalt für Steuerrecht) in 1999.
He has became well known in the field through his various publications and lectures with respect to a great variety of tax matters.
Member of the Corporate Practice Department, Member of the Association of German Certified Tax Lawyers, the International Fiscal Association and the International Bar Association.
