Mark is a partner in the Employment and Pensions Practice Group and he specialises in pensions law.
Mark began his career with Edge & Ellison in Birmingham, qualifying as a solicitor in 1998. In 2000, Mark moved to Edge's London office before joining the pensions team at Taylor Wessing in November 2002. He became a partner in 2007.
Mark has specialised exclusively in pensions law since qualifying in 1998 and he is a member of the Association of Pensions Lawyers (APL). He is a regular speaker for the APL. He also speaks on trustee training courses and pensions courses provided by commercial training companies. Mark has also had a number of articles published.
Mark is experienced at advising employers and trustees on the full range of pensions issues. He has acted in relation to a wide range of schemes, including those of FSTE 100 companies, public sector bodies and charities. He has also acted as a trustee of various schemes through a trustee company.
Mark's recent work includes:
- merging the UK final salary schemes of a worldwide company;
- obtaining "clearance" from the Pensions Regulator for various clients, including in connection with the UK pensions arrangements affected by an intra-group, pan-European reorganisation;
- advising a professional trustee company in relation to obtaining compensation from the Pension Protection Fund for members of various schemes;
- ongoing legal advice to the trustees of a hybrid scheme that is segregated into separate sections for separate employers;
- advising various clients on the use of contingent assets in relation to their pension schemes.
