Mark is an associate specialising in intellectual property and media law.  He qualified as a solicitor at Taylor Wessing in 2007.

Mark advises media and technology companies and other corporates, in the UK and overseas, on both contentious and non-contentious matters.  His expertise covers copyright, trade marks, passing off, designs and confidential information, as well as advertising, defamation and privacy.

Recent matters that Mark has handled include:

  • acting for a technology-based company in enforcing its IP rights against various grey importers and design right infringers;
  • acting for a national newspaper in relation to a High Court claim for breach of privacy and infringement of copyright brought by a high profile celebrity;
  • acting for an international high street retailer in relation to the reorganisation of its substantial global trade mark portfolio of about 5,000 marks; and
  • advising a major broadcaster on the recovery of domain names from cybersquatters.

Mark spent six months on secondment at British Airways in 2006-07, during which time he advised on, amongst other things, a number of high profile advertising campaigns.

He has written articles on intellectual property and media related matters for the Journal of Intellectual Property Law and Practice and The Times Online.

Mark graduated with a BA from the University of Exeter and obtained a Masters (awarded with distinction) from the University of York.  He achieved distinctions in his Graduate Diploma of Law and Legal Practice Course, both at the College of Law London.  He also obtained a Diploma in Intellectual Property Law at the University of Bristol in 2008.

He is a member of the British Literary and Artistic Copyright Association (BLACA).
