Laurence specialises in the resolution of banking and financial services disputes and regulatory investigations.
Laurence acts for UK and international retail and investment banks and a wide range of other financial services business. His practice includes disputes relating to trade finance, structured products, derivatives, investment funds, restructuring of debt securities and large scale financial frauds. Laurence has specialist expertise in "misselling" claims brought by high net worth customers against their wealth manager or private bank, as well as related FSA supervision and enforcement matters, and spent 9 months handling these cases while on secondment to a global wealth manager.
Laurence also has extensive experience of complex, cross-border, litigation and arbitration, acting for clients in the engineering, mobile telecommunications, manufacturing and private equity sectors, as well as conducting investigations for governments and public institutions. He has particular expertise in advising Indian and Chinese clients on their international disputes, giving strategic advice often in the context of parallel proceedings.
Laurence is described in the Legal 500 (including the 2011 edition) as "an expert in the private banking sector" and "a banking and financial services disputes expert."
