Kirsten is member of the Practice Area Competition, EU and Trade. She advices in all aspects of German and European competition law, particularly in the areas of merger control, antitrust investigations, abuse of dominance and contractual competition restraints (in particular review and organization of distribution systems and co-operations of undertakings). Besides the preventive advice (compliance) she provided support to various merger control proceedings on national and EU-level and represented clients in antitrust proceedings at the German Federal Cartel Authority. Kirsten has special expertise in the area of competitive compensation proceedings. She represented a client in a pilot proceeding that dealt with all questions of the competitive claim for damages.  

Kirsten studied law at the Universities of Marburg and Bonn. She passed her legal state exams in 2004 in Bonn and in 2008 in Cologne. Kirsten graduated under supervision of Prof. Dr. Daniel Zimmer as Dr. jur. with a competition law thesis on the referral system pursuant to the Merger Regulation (EC) No. 139/2004. During her graduation she worked for an international law firm at the department for antitrust law in Düsseldorf and Brüssel. As a trainee lawyer she spent part of his practical training at the German Federal Cartel Authority in Bonn and at the German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. in New York. In 2009 she was admitted as an attorney. From 2009 until 2010 Kirsten worked with a leading German law firm in Düsseldorf and Stuttgart, before she joined the Düsseldorf office of Taylor Wessing at the end of 2010.  

Kirsten, a German native speaker, has a good knowledge of English and basic knowledge of Spanish and French.
