Karsten is a member of the “Commercial & Distribution” and “Litigation & Arbitration” Practice Groups. Karsten gives advice to both national and multinational enterprises on all contentious and non-contentious aspects of commercial law. An essential part of his litigation practice is devoted to international arbitration. Furthermore, Karsten has particular expertise in sports-related issues including sports jurisdiction.
Karsten studied law at the University of Bonn, where he was also awarded a PhD in law. The dissertation that Karsten produced, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Josef Isensee, focused on German constitutional law. In the course of his legal training, he worked with the Permanent Mission of Germany to the UN in New York for several months. Having completed his education in Germany, Karsten additionally acquired his LL.M.-degree ("Master of Corporate & Commercial Law") from the University of New South Wales, Sydney. Karsten had already gained professional experience by working as a solicitor with a Bonn-based law firm prior to joining Taylor Wessing in early 2007.
Karsten is a member of the working group sports law in the German lawyer's association and the Australasian Forum for International Arbitration (AFIA). He is Taylor Wessing's official contact person for all queries with respect to Australia.
