Harald Bechteler – Partner

Harald Bechteler specialises in insolvencies and litigation. He is highly experienced in complex national and international lawsuits, for instance relating to damages, commercial issues, contracts for work and services as well as insolvency matters. He advises on corporate restructuring, reorganisation and other recovery measures. For example, he successfully supported the shareholder of a major German department store chain in a complex cross-border transaction aiming to reorganise the group. Harald has advised many creditors in some of the largest insolvency procedures of recent years, including the KirchMedia insolvency and the current Qimonda AG and Arcandor AG proceedings.

Born in 1967, Harald studied law mainly at Constance University. He spent a part of his legal training with a major commercial law firm on Jersey/Channel Islands. He was admitted to the German bar in 1998 and is a member of Mitglied der Arbeitsgemeinschaft Insolvenzrecht im DAV (DeutscherAnwaltVerein), INSOL Europe and Bankrechtliche Vereinigung, to name a few. Harald publishes in legal journals and is co-author of a new commentary on the German Rules of Civil Procedure (Beck Verlag).

Harald, a native speaker of German, is fluent in English.
