Gunbritt is member of the Practice Group Corporate and of the Industry Group Insurance. Her work is focussed on advising insurance undertakings on M&A and other transactions such as the acquisition or sale of corporate shares or of insurance portfolios and the establishment of insurance undertakings and their branches in Germany. She represents especially foreign clients vis-à-vis the German regulator BaFin. Moreover, she provides legal advice with regard to the structuring of distribution systems and to the developing of insurance products.
Gunbritt studied law at the Universities of Cologne (D) and Geneva (CH). In 1995 she obtained her doctorate on the German banking system supervised by Professor Dr Dres hc Klaus Stern. After her second legal state examination in 1997 she worked as an inhouse counsel of EON Ruhrgas AG, Essen, in the practice areas contracts and arbitration (DIS, ICC) until 2001. Subsequently, she was active as M&A-lawyer at the international law firm Linklaters LLP in Cologne and Düsseldorf for more than seven years. Since October 2008, Gunbritt is partner of Taylor Wessing.
In 2005 Gunbritt was appointed specialist lawyer for insurance law. She has published a number of articles in professional journals Moreover, she is co-author of the new commentary book on the revised German Insurance Contract Act (VVG) to be published by Wolters Kluwer end of 2008. Gunbritt is member of the Task Force on Insurance Laws of the German Lawyers Association (DAV).
Gunbritt, a native German speaker, is fluent in English and French.
