Damian is an associate in the Trade Marks, Copyright & Media team.  He trained with Taylor Wessing, qualifying as a solicitor in 2008.

Damian specializes in intellectual property.  He focuses on trade marks, copyright and designs in both transactional and disputes work.  He also advises on advertising issues and reputation management, increasingly in the context of internet and social media matters.

Damian has advised on a range of intellectual property and commercial matters, including:

  • Acting for a well-known premium audio manufacturer on various trade mark matters;
  • Acting for a well-known insurance company on its High Court and Court of Appeal action against another well-known insurance company;
  • Advising a well-known beverage company on the IP and regulatory aspects of its acquisition of a supplier, after which our client became the largest such supplier in the UK;
  • Assisting a sports organization in conducting its annual review of the salary cap imposed on the clubs;
  • Advising the trustees of the estate of a well-known figure on the protection and exploitation of the estate's copyright;
  • Advising a well-known aviation company and a large advertising agency on the launch of new campaigns;
  • Advising a number of high-end fashion labels on brand and IP protection;
  • Advising a large multinational food manufacturer in relation to trade mark infringement, look-alike products and Olympics advertising issues; and
  • Advising a global news organisation on the exploitation of various IP rights.

Damian graduated with honours from King's College London in English & French Law. He also has a degree in French law from the Sorbonne (Maîtrise en droit privé, Université de Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne) and speaks French fluently.  He often gets involved in cross border matters involving our Paris office or other French parties.  He achieved a distinction in his Legal Practice Course and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Commercial Intellectual Property from Nottingham.
