Axel is specialised in transactions and co-operations within the technology and telecommunications sector. His extensive experience includes software licensing, all kind of commercial agreements, e-commerce, m-commerce and regulatory matters. He represents both, national and international clients ranging from start-ups to large public companies. A particular focus of his practice is counseling in matters with international dimensions and advising expanding foreign companies in Germany.
Axel studied Law at the Universities of Heidelberg, Lausanne (Switzerland), Munich and the London School of Economics (L.S.E.). He was legal trainee in Capetown (South Africa) and wrote a doctorate thesis on European Law. Axel was admitted to the German Bar in 1997. He joined Taylor Wessing in 1999 and became a partner in 2002.
Axel is a lecturer for the Masters Programme for "Information Technology Law" at the Heinrich-Heine-University in Duesseldorf. He is also tutor for the solicitor training course „Specialist Solicitor for Information Technology Law“ at Dr. Grannemann & von Fürstenberg. Axel regularly writes articles and gives talks in German and English concerning recent developments in the technology sector. Axel is a member of the Computer Law Association and Word Law Group. He is also active within the main German IT association "Bundesverband Digitale Wirtschaft" and the American Chamber of Commerce.
Axel is listed in the leading German Lawyer's Guide "JUVE" as an IT lawyer with "comprehensive international experience" (2004/2005) who is "competent and responsive" (2005/2006) and a “tough negotiator” who “moves projects forward” (2007/2008).
Axel, a native German, is fluent in English and speaks French.
