Andrew is a senior associate in the Construction & Engineering group, specialising in construction and civil engineering law. His experience of dispute resolution in the construction industry spans a wide range of industry sectors and a broad range of clients including developers, specialist subcontractors, large contracting organisations, professional advisors, private clients and local authorities. Andrew has extensive experience of advising clients in construction disputes including adjudication, meditation and other forms of dispute resolution.
Recent experience includes:
- acting for a state entity in relation to the decommissioning of a nuclear power plant;
- acting for a construction company on a domestic arbitration concerning a commercial development in London:
- acting for a local Council in connection with the Bath Spa litigation; and
- acting for a German insolvency administrator in relation to an ICC arbitration concerning a desalination and power plant in the Middle East.
These disputes, and others in respect of which Andrew has advised, cover a broad spectrum of construction issues. Andrew also advises banks on an ongoing basis in relation to distressed projects.
Prior to his career as a construction lawyer, Andrew worked as a quantity surveyor for a national building contractor and as a construction contract consultant providing advice on a wide range of construction related issues providing Andrew with a good commercial insight into the industry.
Andrew has a BSc (Hons) in Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying (first class); an MSc in Construction Law and Arbitration; is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators; a Member of the Society of Construction Law; and a Member of the Adjudication Society.
