The UK Retail Bond Market - A New Paradigm

On 28 January 2010, Taylor Wessing, in association with the London Stock Exchange, will host a seminar on the new retail bond market at its City offices. The seminar will cover an introduction to the new market and how it will operate, how corporates will access this market and the funding opportunities arising.

On 1 February 2010, the London Stock Exchange's new retail bond trading platform will open, offering private investors an on-screen secondary market in London-listed debt securities for the first time.

The launch of this platform, and with it a new UK retail bond market, is one of the most high-profile outcomes of the LSE's merger with Borsa Italiana. The Borsa Italiana now operates Europe's most heavily traded retail fixed income market.

The new UK retail bond market has been hailed as good news for both investors and issuers. Issuers will now have access to a new source of capital and retail investors will have access to yield through the fixed income markets.
