Taylor Wessing appoints its first International Business Development Director
Reflecting its international growth, Taylor Wessing has created the new role of International Business Development Director to strengthen its business development capability across Europe and to support the national practices.
Robert Pay is an experienced professional and financial services marketing professional, with a great deal of European and US experience. Previous roles include establishing and running the business development function at Clifford Chance during the firm’s post-merger formative period, 1988 to 1995. In 1995 he moved from Clifford Chance to the London Stock Exchange as Head of Marketing, where he brought a commercial edge to the Exchange's approach to business development, particularly in attracting international business and relationship management with its diverse stakeholders during a period of major reform. He also planned the marketing launch of AIM and served on its Management Board.
Robert then moved to Jaffe Associates, where he was European Managing Director between 1998 and 2004. During this time he worked as a consultant to some 30 law firms and other professional and financial services businesses. Speaking French, German and Spanish, he has worked extensively in continental Europe, a skill that reflects the needs of a genuinely European firm.
Managing Partner Michael Frawley comments:
"Robert's experience and his knowledge of many of our key target markets will help our cross firm practice groups to strengthen both their client relationships and market position thereby enabling us to build on our growing reputation as a leading European law firm in our chosen fields”.
