And indeed, most of the Strategic Partnerships are initially kind of romantic, by analogy. Their formation seems largely to rest on hopes and dreams of what might be possible when certain opportunities and pursued - rather than on the dangers and risks. However, as there is still a lack of solid financial backing for new, mainly technology driven companies in the European market, transatlantic strategic alliances between emerging companies and established market-players may be an alternative or addition to M&A or VC investments in a competitive environment.
