Gareth is a partner in Taylor Wessing's Intellectual Property department.  He has experience in all areas of contentious and non-contentious intellectual property law with a particular focus in the life sciences and healthcare sector including:

  • patent and contract litigation;
  • commercial agreements such as licences, technology transfer and collaboration and development agreements; and
  • medicinal regulatory law. 

Gareth is a qualified solicitor and solicitor advocate in England and Wales and is an Associate of the Charted Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA).  He has a degree in Biochemistry and a DPhil in molecular biology, both from Oxford University. 

Gareth has published numerous articles discussing issues in intellectual property in a number of journals including Nature Biotechnology, is a member of the editorial committee of the Bioscience Law Review, and the Advisory Committee of the US journal, Eurowatch.  He also represents Taylor Wessing on the Bioindustry Association's intellectual property advisory committee (IPAC) and is a member of UK Stem Cell Steering Committee's working party. 

He has presented at a number of conferences, speaking on a range of topics including patent litigation, issues in medicinal regulatory law, commercialising stem cell technologies and patent licensing.
