Barrister
David is an Associate within the Restructuring and Corporate Recovery group. His experience covers both non-contentious and contentious insolvency and restructuring. He is qualified as a barrister and has full rights of audience in all courts in England and Wales.
David acts for banks, financiers, insolvency practitioners, institutional landlords and other creditors of distressed and insolvent businesses. He has also acted for a number of media and technology clients.
Recent work includes:
- advising PwC as administrators of Global Engineering Plastic Products Limited, involving multi-jurisdictional disposals of assets and an asset finance fraud on 40 finance companies;
- acting for a creditor of Nortel Networks in securing payment of pre-administration debt;
- acting on complex fraud litigation for Independent Trustee Services Limited in relation to multi-million pound cross-jurisdictional fraud claims;
- advising creditors of Setanta Sports SARL (in Administration) in relation to rights to broadcast sporting events;
- acting for a Trustee in Bankruptcy on an application for a Civil Restraint Order (Anthony Peter Supperstone v.1) Robert Alfred Hurst (2) Ann Stephanie Hurst [2009] EWHC 1271 (Ch));
- advice to both office holders and creditors on retention of title issues in insolvency;
- acting for various administrators and liquidators on sales of insolvent businesses.
David read law at the University of Southampton before receiving a Master's degree in commercial and corporate law (with merit) from University College London. David qualified at the Bar with 5 Paper Buildings, Temple.
David recently authored an article commenting on the Financial Reporting Council's guidelines on Going Concern and Liquidity Risk.
David speaks basic German.
