Amita Dutt is one of the founding members of RHT Law. Having more than 20 years of experience and together with her unique combination of a law degree and MBA have enabled her to provide commercially sound solutions to legal issues posed by her clients. Her unique experience includes having worked as an In-house Legal Counsel for an American MNC's Group services where she was based in Hong Kong from 1993 to 1994 and working in Dubai, UAE from 2008 to 2009.
Her work includes advising corporates and individuals in the acquisition, disposition, management, ownership and leasing of residential and commercial property in Singapore and overseas and housing developers both local and foreign in their purchase, development and sale of residential land in Singapore. She acts for banks, finance and insurance companies in lending transactions and drafting legal documents for financial products and factoring-related matters.
In recent years, Amita has seen herself focusing on working with private banks and their high net worth customers in wealth management matters. Increasingly, with the growth of Wealth Management in Singapore and family business related issues, she finds herself drawn to this area and has been involved in several high value, newsworthy real-estate related transactions.
In acting for banks, she has had to periodically review their documents and procedures, as well as undertake in-house training.
Her efforts have been recognised in the 2008 edition of "Who's Who Legal-Singapore 2008" by the International Bar Association, who identified her as being one of the top Real Estate lawyers, with the following quote: "Dutt's practice is 'very strong in all areas', with a particular focus on private client real estate."
She was nominated by peers and in-house counsel as one of the outstanding practitioners in Euromoney’s ‘Guide to the World’s Leading Real Estate Lawyers’ consecutively in 2011 and 2010. Amita was recently recognised by the Acquisition International 2012 legal awards for Banking & Finance in Singapore.
